25 Ways to Enjoy the Spring Season (and Still Burn Calories): Part I
The month of May is finally here and you know what that means – spring fever! After a long, cold winter, there’s nothing better than walking outside and feeling the sun on your face. It’s a time of year when the weather is warm but the intense heat of the summer has not yet arrived. Don’t spend this Spring season indoors, watching TV or sleeping. Head outside and have some fun while burning calories at the same time!
CaloriesCount.com wants you to enjoy the spring and we’ve come up with some fun activities you can do to enjoy the season while also burning calories:
- Start a neighborhood game of touch football. You’ll be running, throwing and “having a ball” while you burn off the pounds.
- Plan a hike at a local park or forest, and enjoy the greenery that spring brings.
- Throw on your bathing suit, turn on the sprinklers and get soaked with the kids. Just because you’ve grown up doesn’t mean you can’t act young.
- Pick strawberries. In many parts of the country, strawberry farms allow visitors to help pick the fruits. (The fruit of your labor will be burned calories!)
- Do a little spring cleaning – turn on some music, open all the windows and dance while you spruce up the house.
- Rake the yard. You can tone your triceps while you clean up the lawn.
- Hand-wash your car. Not only will washing your car burn calories, it will save you money, too!
- Throw the Frisbee. Whether it’s with your family, a friend or the dog, this activity will help you break a sweat.
- Rent a canoe or a kayak, and head out to a local lake. You can enjoy the scenery while soaking up the sun and getting your daily exercise.
- Act like a kid again – get some inline skates and hit the streets.
- Try your hand at water aerobics. This low-intensity activity is a great workout for people of all ages.
- Plant your own vegetable or herb garden. As you dig, plow and harvest, you’ll shed those pounds and in a few months, you’ll have some summer delights.
It’s time to get up and get moving! The bees are buzzing, the birds are chirping and you need to get moving! There’s no excuse for inactivity in the Spring so stop procrastinating and plan some fun activities outdoors. This is a great time of year to take advantage of the weather and head outside to enjoy yourself and burn some calories.
